Ioanna Thymianidis is a Greek-Australian artist specialising in sculpture and installation. Her artworks embody an edgy dichotomy of traditional technique and conceptual exploration. She studied a Bachelor of Visual Art and Bachelor of Business at Monash University while holding a scholarship to practice from the Italian campus. At the Annual Awards Exhibition of 2018, the Association of Sculptors Victoria awarded Ioanna the 2018 Tina Wentcher Prize. Ioanna has more recently been awarded the 2021 Godinymayin Jewelry Prize after completing a string of residencies based in Norway, Colombia and New York, USA. Following a 2023 solo exhibition in Switzerland, IΩANNA has returned to the Northern Territory to build a body of work about native flora and fauna mutating with contemporary technology.
