Following her participation in the XV Florence Biennale in Florence, Italy, sculptor IΩANNA has been awarded a Lorenzo Il Magnifico Award – Special Commendation from the President for Sculpture/Installation.
Representing both Australia and Greece, IΩANNA showcased new sculptural work that expands her ongoing exploration of speculative ecology, material transformation, and the convergence of natural and technological systems. Exhibiting alongside internationally recognised creatives including Tim Burton and Emily Young, she engaged with artists and cultural voices from around the world throughout the Biennale program.
This recognition marks a significant milestone in her practice and international engagement, following her selection as one of six Australian artists — and the only artist from the Northern Territory — participating in the 2025 edition of the Biennale.
