mEat Me — a visceral fusion of visual art and performance, has been awarded the 2025 Pamelo Award at the Darwin Fringe Festival.
Presented by Darwin Festival, the Pamelo Award celebrates work that is delicious, juicy, and just a little bit difficult — much like the fruit it’s named after. We’re proud to be recognised for pushing boundaries, making a mess, and serving something unforgettable.
This project would not have been possible without the minotaurs and meaningful collaboration with Atelier Kodama earlier this year at LANDSLIDE ARI. The iconic minotaur masks were born out of our shared exploration of the cycle of innovation and tragedy, and became central to the visual language of the work.
Audiences were taken on a deep journey through the mythology of the minotaur and the layered history of the site — once a functioning cow abattoir, later used as a makeshift morgue in the aftermath of Cyclone Tracy. What began as an exhibition and historical tour gradually unravelled into an interactive performance — a séance gone wrong — culminating in audiences being herded and chased out the door by the summoned minotaurs.
